Mandy's story
I qualified as a nurse in 1999 with a BA (Hons) degree and, over the last 25 years, I have worked in various settings, both in hospitals and in the community. I have always been drawn to caring for people with cancer, and for the past four years, I have been working as a lung cancer nurse specialist.

I find this role very rewarding and humbling. Supporting patients and their families during such a challenging time in their lives provides me with immense fulfilment. I have deep admiration for the resilience and positivity they show in the face of adversity. It is a real privilege to get to know my patients and their families, and I always strive to provide individualised and holistic care supporting patients through their cancer journey.

In 2021, I became involved with the Every Breath lung cancer support group, a place where lung cancer patients and their family members can come together to share their experiences and support each other in a caring environment. This involvement has given me a deeper insight into how cancer patients cope and the issues that may arise, enriching my knowledge and understanding of the condition so I can better support others. Every Breath is a positive and uplifting environment. We have organised numerous fundraising events and raised money for lung cancer research. For me being part of this group is incredibly rewarding and I look forward to Every breath expanding and connecting to others beyond Bromley.
